Well, here we are having made our way through two early season storms and a month of below average temps we now have a 10-18″+ pre Christmas snowpack, one of which we haven’t see often in past years.
“Twas the week before Christmas, when all the weather models caused rumbles, that had forecasters stirring and rumors were running.
Glued to the Euro, while pulling out hair nervous for the kids on Christmas if the ground were too bare.
While today the Hudson Valley looks like an Ice Cap and after tracking 4 storms in two weeks I was ready for a long winters nap.
When the weekend forecast caused such a clatter, I sprang to my iMac to see what was the matter, away to the models I clicked like a flash, tapped on my mouse and let out a gasp!
A weekend forecast with highs in the fifties?! No way thats true! Wait is that also some sixties?! This threatens anything being this white, by the time we reach Christmas! Wait it may also rain a lot, might as well rain on everyones wish list!”

In all seriousness I believe these temps may be a bit overdone and with a fresh snow pack we should stay in the 50’s but a period of heavy rain Sat Pm into Sun is possible. This combined with snowmelt and blocked storm drains, throw in the fact that temps may drop right back to below freezing and we have a flood potential followed by a freeze up. We will monitor the weekend forecast over the next day and continue to update on just how warm it gets and how much rain we may see.
