A damp and gray day across the Hudson Valley on Tuesday, and another is on he way for Wednesday… but first a look back at Tuesday. Poughkeepsie hit a high of 57°, and much of the area didn’t get past the mid 50s. Despite a few brief heavy showers across the area, rainfall amounts were very low… Poughkeepsie – 0.15″ , Montgomery – 0.11″.
Wednesday will look very similar to Tuesday, lots of clouds… some patchy drizzle, even a few scattered showers. Day time temps will remain cool, in the mid 50s most likely…
You can see on the weather map, that the Nor’easter hasn’t moved much in the past day… and it will likely be in almost the exact same location on Thursday. The reason this storm is simply lingering off the east coast, is because there is an area of high pressure in the Canadian Maritimes preventing the storm from moving away. As a result, this storm will continue to spin moisture into New England, from off the Atlantic Ocean.
As far as the Hudson Valley is concerned, it appears most of the day on Wednesday is dry. A few scattered showers are possible, but the areas of steady rain will be to our east. It looks as if an organized area of rain could impact us Wednesday night… but we’ll have to wait and see where the rain bands actually form. As always, weather updates can be found on the Facebook page. No matter how you slice it… gray, damp, cool and breezy will be the story for the next couple days. The system finally departs on Friday… but some unsettled conditions (isolated showers) could linger into the weekend… something we’re looking at.
Another very long day draws to a close for me personally. I’m watching the baseball World Series Game 1… and it’s a slaughter. The Kansas City Royals are basically a Cinderella story, and I’ve been enjoying watching them over the last month. But tonight, they’re just over matched… and there is nothing else on TV, so it looks like I’ll trudge thru the rest of this blowout. I think I’m going to shut things down and try and get some extra sleep tonight. We have to stock up before winter… I think Alex is going to push for a Redbull sponsorship (sarcasm). Alright… see you back here Wednesday night. Stay dry, Hudson Valley!
