The heat and humidity increased on Monday… and on Tuesday they’ll both increase even more, giving us a taste of what “summer” is supposed to feel like. Monday’s high temperature in Poughkeepsie was 85°… which is right on the mark for this time of year (Average High = 85°)… and Monday was the warmest it’s been in 8 days. While it hasn’t been “chilly” by any stretch, temperatures the past week have been just a touch below normal. But that’s all going to change on Tuesday.
Tuesday, the flow shifts to a warm and humid southwest wind, and that will pump the heat and humidity back into the Hudson Valley. Tuesday’s looking partly cloudy with a few isolated thunderstorms possible during the afternoon, but most of the area remains dry. Afternoon highs will climb into the mid to upper 80s, but the humidity will be even higher than what we saw on Monday, so it will feel more like the low to mid 90s.
Tuesday night is looking much more humid than previous nights. Temps only drop into the mid and upper 60s across the area, so it seems like we’re in store for a muggy night… have your AC units ready.
Wednesday looks a lot like Tuesday in terms of temperatures and humidity, but Alex and I have alluded to the potential for thunderstorms increasing, as a cold front looks to approach from the west. The details on how this plays out are still developing, so check back later this afternoon or evening… because Alex will have an update for you later today.
I could definitely get used to this “team” approach! Thanks for all the support you guys give to HVW! Trust me, it means a lot to both of us. Hope you have a good start to your Tuesday…
