It’s unofficial as of this late hour… but the record low temperature in Poughkeepsie for Tuesday (2/24/15) was 3° set in 2008. Well, here were the observed temperatures as of 1am Tuesday:It may be hard to see, but Poughkeepsie was at 0°… which would be a new record (update: 2am Poughkeepsie temperature = -6°… so the only question is “how cold?”). This will be the 2nd record low we’ve set during our brutal February. We’ll wait to see where the final numbers shake out on Tuesday morning… but we expect Poughkeepsie’s low to be somewhere between -8° and -15°. Another record that we didn’t just break, we obliterated it.
Looking to Tuesday… a good deal of sunshine, along with a few clouds. The key however, is the cold…
The winds should die down… making it less painful. But there’s no denying that these temperatures are over 20 degrees below average. Ugly stuff.
Looking down the road… the weather looks quiet into the weekend. We’ve got all the details on the HVW 5 Day Forecast. 2 coastal storms will pass by to our south and east between now and the weekend, missing the HV entirely. Our next storm threat that appears to be the weekend. Unlike the ‘warm up’ and rain that some data is suggesting… we think that the storm could track further south, and be a colder than expected storm (similar to last weekend). We’ll follow it thru the week, and keep you posted.
