After a cool but sunny end to the weekend, in which parts of the area saw their 1st frost of the season… Monday started the week off cloudy and gray. Poughkeepsie’s high was 63°, right around average for this time of year.
We’ll see Tuesday look very similar to Monday in a lot of ways. The most noticeable difference coming in the form of warmer temperatures. A flow out of the south will bring milder temperatures across the Hudson Valley. Temps could be a good 10 degrees above normal on Tuesday, despite the cloudy conditions. We could also see a few sprinkles in places, but for the most part, it’s fairly cloudy and dry. Wednesday could see more of the same… cloudy skies, but at least the warm temperatures will continue as well.
By late in the day on Wednesday, a strong cold front approaches the Hudson Valley. In the image above, you can see a band of heavy rain out in advance of the cold front, is off to our west. The low pressure system will move into Canada, and slowly push the cold front in our direction. It looks as if the rain will reach the Hudson Valley Wednesday night into Thursday morning. We’ll track it again in the Tuesday night update, but at this time… the Thursday AM commute could be a wet one, with possible heavy rain, and even some rumbles of thunder.
What a long, but great weekend. In the Saturday night update, I mentioned that we took the weather munchkin to Chuck E Cheese for a birthday party, which was a blast but exhausting. Sunday I drove to Philadelphia for the wedding of my good friend from high school. The wedding was beautiful (and the weather cooperated nicely), but one of the coolest parts, was getting to spend the night catching up with several of my old high school friends. After high school, we all scattered around various parts of the country. I stayed local, but 2 of the guys at the wedding now live in California, another is in Texas, and the groom now lives in Philly. It was like turning back time, and just awesome to see how everyone is doing. But after enjoying a great 24 hours in Philly… and surviving the traffic of the NJ Turnpike 2 times in 2 days… I’m home. Now all the focus turns to getting the Winter Outlook finalized. Things have been so crazy of late… but we should have it done this week. Thanks for all your patience… and thanks for all your support! You guys are great, and we can’t thank you enough! On that note… have a great Tuesday, and I’ll see you here Tuesday night.
