Tuesday: Cloudy… period of light snow possible during the afternoon (40% chance). High in the low 30s. SW wind 5 to 10mph. A dusting possible by sunset.
Tuesday Night: Cloudy, scattered snow showers possible. Period of rain likely near midnight, could begin as mix of sleet and freezing rain. Early low around 30°… rising into the upper 30s late. South wind 5 to 15mph. Additional dusting of snow possible.
Wednesday: Cloudy skies with some breaks of sun. A sprinkle or shower possible. High in the upper 40s. SW wind 5 to 10mph.
The cold has been impressive and sharp. High temperatures haven’t hit 25° since Friday. Monday’s high was only 22° and the morning low was -1°. So while the Saturday storm got a lot of coverage and was underwhelming for most of the valley, the cold has definitely been formidable.
But today the cold begins to lose the battle, as a warm SW wind will increase later today, and usher in some warmer air. Before that happens, we have some weather to contend with…
The threat for afternoon snow looks to be much less than yesterday morning. The air remains very dry in the Hudson Valley, so much of the precipitation looks likely to evaporate before it reaches the ground… especially in the southern half of the Hudson Valley. Even so, we’re highlighting the potential for a quick bout of light snow this afternoon (between 1pm and 5pm)… where a dusting of snow could fall.
