The Next 72 Hours…
Some very active weather coming our way over the next 3 days, and it starts right away on Tuesday. To simplify the discussion, we have a series of simulated radar images with highlights. First off, here’s how we start Tuesday morning:
Showers will start the day off, nothing too heavy, but enough to cause some wet… slick road ways. But the next graphic shows that the moisture pulls north and east of the Hudson Valley for the afternoon, and leaves us with clouds, some fog, patchy drizzle, and we can’t rule out a shower or two:
Clouds and scattered showers will be the story all the way into Wednesday (Christmas Eve). The moisture is rather scattered and disorganized during the morning it seems… and then we begin to see some organized rainfall make it’s way toward the Hudson Valley around mid day or early afternoon…
A period of steady rain seems possible during the early afternoon, so you may want to plan for that potential. It looks like the evening may see the showers be more “hit or miss” in nature. Late at night, we’ll see the front reach the area, and that’s when the rain will really come down, during the overnight hours…
In advance of this band of heavy rain and embedded thunderstorms… we’ll see temperatures surge into the upper 50s and low 60s across the Hudson Valley. It will be interesting, because temps during the day on Wednesday will likely be in the mid to upper 40s… and then it will actually warm up overnight Christmas Eve. When this front reaches us, there will be plenty of moisture to work with… and the Hudson Valley could see widespread rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches.
We’ll have another update on this for the Wednesday Outlook… but a very soggy next few days are on the way.
