It’s been 15 bitterly cold days. Fifteen… LONG… frigid days. But we finally made it!
As of 9am in Poughkeepsie, the mercury has reached 32°, and it will continue to climb as we head into the afternoon hours. We’ll see a good deal of sunshine today, mixing with a few fair weather clouds. Our winds will be calm to start out… but should increase out of the NW as the day goes on. Highs on Tuesday will ‘surge’ into the upper 30s across the Hudson Valley, but as temperatures peak into the upper 30s… the NW winds will add a chill back into the air.
By late afternoon, the wind chills will fall back into the 20s, and by sunset… into the upper teens! So even when it warms up… it still feels cold in the HV.
But our moderation trend should continue through the remainder of the week. A persistent SW flow will usher in some MUCH warmer air by Thursday and Friday. Highs by the end of the work week will climb into the mid 50s, with the threat of rain increasing by Friday.
The thaw is coming… but baby steps everyone! Have a great Tuesday!
