Tuesday : Mostly sunny, warm and slightly more humid. High in the mid to upper 80s.
Tuesday Night : Increasing clouds after midnight, and becoming quite humid. Low in the upper 50s to low 60s.
Wednesday : A mix of sun and clouds, hot and humid, with a few scattered afternoon thunderstorms possible. Highs in the mid to upper 80s. Chance of rain 50%.
Summer returned to the Hudson Valley on Monday, with Poughkeepsie reaching a high temperature of 86°… the warmest it’s been in 14 days. The best part of Monday, was the low humidity that went along with the heat… making it so it didn’t feel any hotter than the actual temperature.
Tuesday looks to be similar in many ways, as sunshine and blue skies should dominate the sky. Humidity will be ever so slightly higher than on Monday… but should still be within comfortable levels. Afternoon temps in the mid to upper 80s… should translate into real feel temps of upper 80s to near 90°. Clouds will roll in late Tuesday night, as a cold front approaches from Canada, and that should hold night time temps around 60°. Wednesday we’ll see the cold front push thru the Hudson Valley, but it will pass without much fanfare. We’ll see a decent amount of clouds, and maybe a few spotty afternoon thunderstorms, but it looks like much of the area may not see any rain with the passage of the cold front. When we take a look at the forecast Tuesday night… if it appears the risk is any greater, we’ll let you know.
Beyond Wednesday, it’s a return to the cool and comfortable weather we’re used to… at least for a few days. Over the weekend, we could see the heat try and return to the Hudson Valley, along with some unsettled weather and thunderstorms. But a lot can change between now and Sunday, so it’s something to watch. Speaking of things to watch… Tropical Storm Cristobal has become Hurricane Cristobal:
As you can see, Cristobal is no threat to the United States, and is expected to slowly move out into the Atlantic…possibly bringing tropical storm conditions to Bermuda as it goes. Cristobal is a very disorganized, minimal hurricane… but is still providing some “excitement” in an otherwise uneventful 2014 Atlantic hurricane season. When it comes to tropical storms and hurricanes… uneventful is a great thing. But it only takes one storm to ruin a hurricane season… so we’ll continue to watch the tropics in the coming months.
Well… another long day draws to a close. I’m going to start publishing these updates to the website late at night, unless we have other content that takes priority. This way you night owls can have something to look forward to around 1am each day. I’ve been scheduling them to post at 6am… when most people are waking up… so that the post is available for you morning cup of coffee. But in the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t make much of a difference. So we’ll see how this works for now… always subject to potential changes.
Alright… time to call it a night, have a great Tuesday… and I’ll see you back here Tuesday night…
