Well… well… well, look how times have changed! 60°!? That’s right… a whopping sixty degrees, and a high temperature that is a full +14° compared to the average. It almost felt like summer… well, at least late spring. The month as a whole is still nearly 5 degrees below average… but we’re chopping away at that number more each day.
Now… unfortunately, a return to the reality that is winter 2014-2015. That chill you felt in the air Wednesday evening… was the northwest wind ushering in some Canadian air…
We’ll have lots of sunshine… just much colder temperatures and a chilly (if not cold) northwest breeze. We’re going from late spring, to late winter in one day. So make sure you grab your coat on Thursday, you’re going to want it.
Similar conditions on tap for Friday… we’ll have increasing high clouds thru the day. The chill will remain, and that sets the stage for the even that everyone is asking about… our Saturday storm.
There could still be enough cold air at the onset of the storm… to generate areas of wet snow and sleet for a brief time. However, enough warm air will flow into all levels of the atmosphere… to change everyone over to a plain cold rain before sunrise on Saturday. Temps will rise safely above freezing… and travel concerns Saturday morning should be limited to wet roads.
We’ll continue to track this over the next 48 hours… but the data has been consistent, saying this is a rain maker for the Hudson Valley. While there is an outside chance some of us start as wet snow & sleet… little or no accumulation is expected. Be sure to check the HVW 5 Day Forecast for the latest ideas on the storm. Otherwise… have a great Thursday!
