After a record high on Wednesday (92° in Poughkeepsie), we’ll have another scorcher lined up for today.
It will be mostly sunny and hot for our Thursday. A light southwest wind will continue to usher very hot air into the Hudson Valley. Afternoon highs on Thursday should be near or just above 90° across the area… with a lot of places topping out around 91° or 92°. Humidity levels should be reasonably comfortable, keeping the ‘real feel’ heat index right around the actual air temperature. The heat lasts into tonight, with a very warm evening expected for the region. Overnight lows will only dip into the mid and upper 60s on average.
Friday will be warm, but not as hot as Thursday. We expect a lot more cloudiness across the valley. That will be associated with a cold front that will dip into the northeast during the day on Friday. A few scattered showers and thundershowers can’t be ruled out during the day on Friday either… but they shouldn’t be widespread. Highs on Friday are likely to be in the low 80s.
The cold front passes to our south for Saturday, and we’ll see a flow shift out of the northeast. A much cooler… much more spring-like day for our Saturday. More sunshine than clouds, and high temperatures around 70°. Quite a difference from what we’re seeing right now.
Remember… it’s very hot out there. Make sure to take the proper precautions, and take frequent water breaks, and avoid strenuous outdoor activity. Be safe everyone, and have a great day!
