Wednesday was a beautiful day across the Hudson Valley, with plenty of sun… a good deal of warmth… and low humidity. Poughkeepsie hit 85° for a high, which is 6° above the average high for this time of year. But what made the day such a winner… was the very low humidity. All summer long, the Hudson Valley has been the beneficiary of a NW flow, which translates into comfortable temps… and low humidity. Wednesday was no exception to that.
Thursday looks like mother nature just hit “copy and paste” from the forecast for Wednesday. A good deal of sunshine, comfortable humidity, and warm temps. Another beautiful day coming our way on Thursday. Friday looks a bit different however, as he flow shifts from NW to SE… which will allow humidity to flow up the Hudson Valley. So while Friday’s temperatures look similar to Thursday’s (mid 80s)… the increased humidity will make it feel quite muggy and sticky. That trend continues into Saturday… as a potentially Hazy, Hot and Humid day could be on tap. A cold front will be approaching once again on Saturday, and depending on the timing of the front reaching the Hudson Valley… we could see temps approach 90°. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be in the area Saturday afternoon and evening, so we’ll have to see how the day plays out… check back her Thursday and Friday night to see how Saturday will play out.
The Atlantic hurricane season has been very quiet this year, which is a very good thing. But from now until November, the east coast needs to be on alert, as the conditions off the coast will be very favorable for development. Alex has taken a close look at a disturbance that we’ll be watching closely in the coming week. For now, it just has potential for development… should it actually begin to develop, Alex and I will keep you posted.
On that note… it’s been a very long day, so I’m going to wind it down for the evening. We appreciate all your questions and comments both here and on Facebook. We are always trying to improve HVW… and your constructive feedback is always welcome. On that note… good night, and a great Thursday
