After some beautiful weather Thursday… we were left with some mild, but wet weather on Friday. By the time Saturday arrived… it was back in freezer (at least by early April standards). Winds howled out of the northwest, and temperatures spent much of the day in the mid 40s, with a wind chill that was in the 30s. Hardly the type of weather we would expect for early April. Unfortunately… Sunday doesn’t look any better…
Clouds will be on the increase early Sunday morning, and by early afternoon… scattered showers are likely across the Hudson Valley. The scattered showers will last through most of the afternoon, and will likely dampen any outdoor plans. As if the threat of rain weren’t bad enough… temperatures are projected to be nearly 10 degrees below average.
Highs across the Hudson Valley on Sunday will likely only reach the mid to upper 40s. It will be so cold… that when the rain showers reach the Hudson Valley… they very likely will mix with wet snow across the higher elevations (Catskills). The temperatures and the rain will combine for a very raw feel to our Sunday weather.
Monday looks like a real winner however… as the sun should return, and temperatures surge back into the 60s. Enjoy it however… because by Tuesday, the threat of rain returns… and could last thru a good part of the work week. For a complete look at the details, please check out the HVW 5 Day Forecast.
Sometimes… you just can’t catch a break. You may have noticed that the Saturday Outlook was “missing”. Well, that was thanks to a brutal 24 hour stomach virus, that completely knocked me out of the game on Friday. So now, tonight (Saturday night)… feeling much better… but now my internet connection has gone down the tubes. With limited connectivity all evening… it’s been impossible to get my graphics uploaded. So if you’re reading this post and it’s only text… you know why. I’m going to try again later… but some days, you just can’t catch a break. (Update: after 30 minutes of trying, I finally got both graphics loaded… hip hip hooray)
So weather wise… we’ve got one more week of suffering, and then we may get a true taste of spring. At the very least, we’ll earn the slogan “April Showers” this week… as a frontal boundary will set up over the Hudson Valley, and separate very cold air to our north… from quite mild air to our south. We’ll be in the battleground all week… which means wild swings in temperature possible from day to day, as well as consistently unsettled weather. Some of the data even tries to mix some snow into the equation… but we think that’s likely just the models trying to struggle with the pattern and how the cold factors in.
Either way… we’ll keep an eye on everything for you. Happy Easter, and Happy Passover!
