Sunday : Sunshine mixed with clouds, warm. High near 80°.
Sunday Night : Variable clouds. Low in the low to mid 50s.
Monday : Partly cloudy and breezy, much cooler. High in the mid 60s.
Saturday was the first above average day in over a week. Poughkeepsie reached a high of 75°, which is one degree above normal for September 20th. We saw a fair amount of clouds thru the day, as the Hudson Valley became sandwiched between a cold front off to our northwest… and a coastal storm near Virginia.
Those clouds could make their presence felt again on Sunday, as the cold front begins to march toward the region. Ahead of the cold front… we should see periods of sun and clouds… a light southwest wind, and afternoon highs near 80°. Two days in a row above normal? Yes… it’s true. But just how nice it is, will depend on how much sun we see. The hope is that the bulk of the clouds hold off until late in the day, but it’s going to be a close call. We could even see a spot shower or two around sunset. With a little luck, our Sunday will be a winner.
Looking ahead, Monday will see a dramatic change. Winds shift to the northwest… and much cooler air will invade the area. It will feel a lot like Friday, when temps maxed out in the mid 60s. Temps moderate a bit by Tuesday, and then much of the week should see highs within a few degrees of 70°. After a very warm start to September… things have cooled considerably… and as of today, the month as a whole is right around average.
Ok… enough reading, you should be out there enjoying the final full day of summer. Summer ends officially at 10:29pm on Monday, so if you can take advantage of the warm weather on Sunday… we recommend you do it. We won’t have too many more days this warm… so you have to enjoy them while you can! Have a great Sunday everyone!!
