Everyone seems to be echoing the same sentiment lately… “we need rain”. Depending on where you live, you may need the rain more than others. We’re going to take a closer look at that on Sunday. The image above shows the projected rainfall between now and early Tuesday morning. The theme here… is scattered areas of heavy rain. The next 3 days will see scattered afternoon thunderstorms, and that means winners and losers in terms of rainfall. The map above has some parts of the Hudson Valley seeing over 2″ of rain… and other areas seeing hardly any rain at all. Don’t get hung up on the exact location of the heavy rain on this computer model… because it’s impossible to pinpoint where the storms will pop up. However, the computer model is a useful tool for getting an idea of the general pattern we can expect in the coming days.
Sunday, Monday and Tuesday… all appear very humid, with periods of sun and clouds, and scattered thunderstorms. On Sunday, the storms appear most likely between the hours of 2pm and 6pm, so keep an eye on the Hudson Valley Weather Radar if you have outdoor plans. We’ll have a better idea of the timing for Monday and Tuesday as we get closer. Keep in mind, none of these days is a washout by any stretch. These storms will be very “hit or miss” in nature. Some locations could see a heavy downpour and a quick inch of rain… other areas will remain completely dry.
Sunday and Monday look to be warm with temps in the low to mid 80s… but Tuesday is likely the hottest day of the week, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s. Those of you wishing for summer time weather, will get your wish in the coming week to 10 days. Every day between now and next weekend looks to see highs at or above 80°, with one or two days having a shot at 90°. Humidity will also be higher than it’s been for much of the summer… so get ready for some warm and sticky weather.
I’ll be at my annual Fantasy Football draft on Sunday, spending the day watching grown men (by age only) battle to put together the best collection of professional football players, all in the hopes of earning bragging rights (and taking money from your friends). It’s a guaranteed wild day… that needs to be seen to be believed. My goal… is to put together a better team than last year. I finished 9th out of 10 teams, and pretty much embarrassed myself on a weekly basis. So I almost can’t do any worse than last year… we’ll see!
Hope you have a great Sunday!!
