Sunday: Partly cloudy with comfortable humidity. High near 80°
Sunday Night: Clear and cool. Low in the low to mid 50s.
Monday: Sun mixing with clouds, and a touch more humid. High in the low to mid 80s.
Saturday left a bit to be desired across the Hudson Valley. Clouds were resilient, and instead of a mix of clouds and sun… it was a mainly cloudy day. Despite the clouds, Poughkeepsie still managed to reach a high temp of 77°. So, if you could look past the gray skies, Saturday wasn’t a terrible day in terms of the weather.
Sunday looks much better! The clouds should exit the area early Sunday morning… and that will leave us with partly cloudy skies for the majority of Sunday. Humidity levels should remain very comfortable, and highs should be with a degree or two of 80°. Yet another outstanding weekend weather day. After a seasonably cool night Sunday night, Monday looks to see a mix of sunshine and clouds… with temps slightly warmer, into the lower 80s.
Things really start to warm up by mid week… as the flow shifts to the southwest, and our day time highs push into the upper 80s and possibly even 90°, by Tuesday and Wednesday. The increase in temperatures will be accompanied by an increase in humidity as well. So for at least 1 or 2 days this week, summer will try to make a comeback.
The other feature we’re watching… is Tropical Depression 04L, located just southeast of the Bahamas. There continues to be a bit of uncertainty with the track of this system. There is a dip in the jet stream off to the east… and a ridge of high pressure off to the west. Those two features will battle to become the steering force for this system, and at the moment… it’s uncertain which force will win out…
If the high pressure system becomes the driving force… the storm will track toward Florida. If the trough over the Atlantic wins out, the storm will begin to track north, along the east coast. At that point… the question will be does it stay out to sea… or does it head toward the Carolinas? There are several possibilities, so it bears watching.
I spent 3 hours at the car dealership on Saturday getting new tires and an oil change. My car drives like a dream again now. It’s amazing how a set of tires can completely alter the way it drives. Well… my little girl just woke up as I was typing the last sentence… that was nearly 2 hours ago. So having just put her back to bed, and having completely lost my train of thought… I’m going to wrap this up. Have a great Sunday, everyone… I’ll see you back here Sunday night.
