As we close the chapter on the month of July, and head into August… we’ll start the new month the same way we ended the last month… with some fantastic weather.
We’ll have more clouds than we saw on Friday… and even a very slight chance of a spot shower or T-Shower around mid day. Otherwise, the day looks fantastic. The humidity will be low for the 2nd straight day, and it will continue to feel like summer… with highs in the mid to upper 80s.
We expect the same story to repeat on Sunday… with partly cloudy conditions, comfortable humidity… and warmth. For anyone with outdoor activities planned, you could not ask for much better weather. You can get the full details on the 5 day forecast…
HVW 5 DAY FORECAST
Billy’s Banter / July Recap
Looking back at the month of July, we had some fantastic weather to deal with:
- Poughkeepsie was 1.3° above average for the month of July
- Poughkeepsie’s highest temperature was 96° (July 19th)
- Poughkeepsie hit 90° or higher on 5 days (4 days of 90°+ in 2014)
- Poughkeepsie station (KPOU) July rainfall of 1.95″, was 2.7″ below average. (July Average = 4.95″)
We had some great weekends for outdoor plans, that much is true. But take a look at this rainfall map for the month of July. The entire Hudson Valley was below average for the month, but some areas were exceptionally dry. After a relatively wet month of June… July’s dry weather erased any progress the Hudson Valley was making in 2015.
Nice weekends are fantastic during the summer… but you need some rainfall to balance everything out. Poughkeepsie is nearly 10 inches below average for the year… so the majority of the region could use some rain in the month of August.
We hope you have a great Saturday, Hudson Valley…
