October was incredibly warm. Then the 2nd and 3rd of November both saw highs crack into the low 70s across the valley. But nothing lasts forever, and Old Man Winter has been patiently watching and waiting… all the way up in the arctic. But he’s grown tired of waiting, and now… with little warning, he’s decided to crash our party. And when Old Man Winter arrives… he brings the pain.
This map would represent an average day… for the middle of January! The average high for today is 54°, and we will be roughly 15° to 20° below average today! Expect abundant sunshine and blue skies, gradually mixing through some thin, high level clouds this afternoon. Highs only in the mid to upper 30s are expected, so make sure you bundle up.
Tonight, the winds will die down, and we’ll see another bitter cold night… with lows expected about 10° below average. Guidance suggests that the lows tonight will be in the low 20s… but we wouldn’t be surprised to see temps fall into the mid and upper teens under mostly clear skies and calm winds.
Things begin to moderate as we push into Sunday… but we’ll still be well below average. Highs on Sunday are expected in the low to mid 40s, with clouds mixing with sunshine. Our cold pattern will continue into next week… but temps will continue to moderate, getting close to normal by mid week. But the overall pattern is quite a significant change from what we’ve seen of late. Just proving that the warmth we saw in October wouldn’t last forever.
Have a great Saturday!
