Saturday: Periods of light rain and drizzle, tapering off around mid day. Mostly cloudy during the afternoon, chilly. High in the mid to upper 50s. Chance of rain 60%.
Saturday Night: Mainly clear skies and cold, areas of frost possible. Low in the low to mid 30s.
Sunday: Partly cloudy and seasonably cool. High in the low 60s.
A decent end to the work week on Friday, as Poughkeepsie’s high temperature was 63°… which is 2 degrees below average for the day. Sunshine dominated the sky across the Hudson Valley for much of the day, until clouds began to increase late on Friday.
Saturday likely starts out wet across the Hudson Valley. Areas of light rain and drizzle can be expected as an area of low pressure passes by to our south. Periods of light rain are possible anytime after 2am… and should taper off between 10am and 1pm in most locations. When all is said and done, the Hudson Valley could see anywhere from virtually nothing… to up to 0.30″ of rain. Areas south of I-84 stand to see the most rain from this system… while areas north of I-84 may see very little.
Once the rain exits the Hudson Valley Saturday afternoon, high pressure will move in from Canada. That will set the stage for one of the coldest nights so far this season. Early indications are the thermometer will dip into the low and mid 30s across the Hudson Valley on Saturday night (top image). If the winds die down, we could see a fairly widespread frost… so it will need to be watched. Sunday looks dry and seasonable… a nice fall day. So after an “iffy” start to the weekend, we should end on a cool (but positive) note.
Time for me to catch up on some sleep. My daughter’s got a friend’s birthday party to attend on Saturday… so this weather dad had better rest up. No doubt, I’ll be chasing my munchkin around Chuck E. Cheese’s Saturday afternoon, so that should be fun! I feel like I have so much more to say… but I’m drawing blanks, so this seems like a good stopping point. Thanks so much for spending part of your day with HVW! We’ll have updates on Facebook if necessary, so please check back with any questions. Have a wonderful Saturday, everyone!
