If you have outdoor plans this weekend, you’re in luck! The weather couldn’t be much better!
The upper level disturbance that provided the clouds on Friday will exit off the east coast, and it will be replaced by warm high pressure, advancing in from the southwest. The result will be some very nice weather for the Hudson Valley starting on Saturday, and continuing straight through the weekend.
The simulated satellite image shows that we expect a mix of clouds and sunshine across the Hudson Valley… with a slight chance of a spot afternoon shower in the western parts of our area (Catskills). Otherwise the majority of us look to stay dry and warm…
With a light southwest wind and a decent amount of sunshine… afternoon highs will take a shot at cracking the 70° mark in the valley (slightly cooler in the Catskills). With the average high for this time of year in the mid 60s… Saturday is exactly the type of weather you want if you have outdoor spring time plans!
If you like the way Saturday looks… you’re going to LOVE Sunday!
Temperatures are projected to be a good 10 degrees above average on Sunday, and some locations could break the 80° mark… as we expect a good amount of sunshine to help power those temperatures well into the upper 70s across the valley. The humidity should be low, and we should have a light southwest breeze… exactly the type of weather you want this time of year for outdoor activities.
Rainfall is a bit below average, but we’re not experiencing drought conditions just yet…
The western half of the Hudson Valley is abnormally dry, but no part of NY State is experiencing drought conditions at this time. There is an outdoor burn ban in effect until May 15th, however… so please don’t forget to observe that during your outdoor activities this weekend.
Otherwise some great weather ahead. Check out the HVW 5 Day Forecast for more details.
I’m looking forward to an outstanding weekend! I’m heading upstate Saturday afternoon to see my brother and then we’re heading over to my friend’s housewarming / Boxing fight party. It should be an excellent time, and then each and every minute that I’m not doing that… I’ll be enjoying the heck out of my two little girls. So a fun, busy weekend ahead.
I just wanted to briefly discuss the potential for our 1st tropical system of 2015 next week… mostly because The Weather Channel has been discussing it, and so we’re already getting questions about it as a result…
The computer models are picking up on a low pressure system developing and strengthening over the Bahamas during the middle of next week. This system should drift north, and could become the 1st tropical storm of the season. This GFS model doesn’t intensify it too much… but this far out, it’s very uncertain. Most of the data tracks it anywhere from the coast of NC … to far out to sea. So we’ll have to monitor the situation next week… and see where it goes. For now, it’s a very low threat to our area, and something that the Carolinas need to watch closely.
Alright, that’s it for tonight. Have a great Saturday… and in case I don’t get back on here until Sunday night, have a great weekend!!
