Good Morning Hudson Valley… this is Bill… and this is Day 1 of my HVW journey. I’m very excited to be with you guys full time now. For those of you who don’t know me, I pretty much say whatever is on my mind when I post. So you’re going to get a bit of insight on everything from my family, to my sports teams, to whatever is going on in my world. Don’t worry, I keep it focused on the weather… but when you’re reading about my (soon to be) 3 year old daughter… you’ll know you’re in the right place. So… how about we get to the weather?
Sunday was a stellar day across the Hudson Valley. Poughkeepsie clocked in with a high temp on Sunday of 81°… just slightly below average for this time of year. But with the partly cloudy skies, and low humidity… you’re going to be hard pressed to get better weather for a Sunday afternoon.
Monday looks great as well, just a bit warmer… and a maybe just a touch more humid. That said, it still looks like a very comfortable summer afternoon, with highs in the low to mid 80s. Tonight, we’ll see temps drop down into the low 60s, making for some fairly good sleeping weather.
Tuesday our flow out of the southwest will strengthen, and that will mean increasing heat and humidity. Sunshine should mix with clouds, but it will be hazy and humid… with afternoon highs in the mid to upper 80s, and it will feel like it’s around 90°. A spotty isolated PM T-storm can’t be ruled out… but most of us should stay dry on Tuesday.
Beyond that… Wednesday looks similar in many ways to Tuesday, maybe reaching 90°, with a few isolated afternoon T-storms. A cold front will push into the area Wednesday night into Thursday… which will once again, push the heat and humidity out of the Hudson Valley. Below are two images from the GFS computer model. First, are the forecast highs for Wednesday…
Next, the forecast highs for Thursday.
You can definitely see that the cold front changes our air mass, going from near 90° to near 80°. So a brief warm up, followed by a possible return to cooler weather by the end of the week. Thanks again for such an amazing welcome to HVW… I hope you all have a great day!
