A low pressure system is approaching the region, ahead of it warm moist air with southerly winds, areas of sunshine this morning are also helping to add a bit of instability to the atmosphere. As the pressures moves into the region, it will drag a cold front along with it. As this cold front clashes with the warmer/unstable air out ahead of it, we will see showers and thunderstorms develop. We don’t expect these storms to reach severe levels, but heavy rain and gusty winds are likely.
In the wake of this cold front, cooler and dry air will advect into the region for the weekend, sunshine will return but temps will be a bit cooler than we have seen with highs in the 60’s and lows down into the 30’s. The cooler weather will carry into next week as well, where 70’s will not be found as they were this week. We may also see a period of needed rainfall to start the week as well. Hope everyone has a great day and don’t forget to use the observation section of our app to report any thunderstorms later today.
