Below average temps continue to end the week, a threat for snow returns by Sunday and Monday, not from the major storm that will track to far to the South but from some other pieces of energy passing through. Sunday looks like on an off light snow potential through the entire day into the evening, on monday a piece of energy goes offshore of NYC and looks to blossom a bit and throw some moisture back into our region as well. We will have to keep an eye on todays data to see how everything comes together, either way a chance of an extended period of snow showers and light snow exists from Sunday into Monday. After that the only thing of interest becomes another potential storm that may try to impact the region mid week, again as we have learned many times, forecasting past 3-5 days is difficult and full of inaccuracies, but it is certainly something to keep an eye on. We will take a much more detailed look into the late weekend light snow potential and next week, in this evenings update we will have all of today’s data to take a look at and hopefully we can pass along a detailed forecast into at least Sunday and Monday’s potential. For now, its off to the Catskill Mountains for me, I am in the process of climbing all of the Catskills 3500 ft or higher peaks between Dec 21st and March 21st. I have already summited all of the peaks in the spring, summer and fall, but it wasn’t enough I wanted to more coveted award of climbing them all in the winter as well. Out of 35 peaks I have about 5 left including todays summit of Windham High Peak, so wish me luck and have a great day HV, see you this evening!
