An area of disturbance will pass south of the Hudson Valley early on Friday, and aside from a few scattered showers… it will have very little impact on the Hudson Valley. The disturbance will exit off the east coast in the morning… and the clouds will begin to break up, giving the Hudson Valley a mix of clouds and sun during the afternoon…
The sunshine should help temperatures respond just a bit as well… and Friday highs are expected to peak right around 80°.
But the big questions on everyone’s mind… have to do with the weekend weather. Numerous high school graduations are happening this weekend, and most of those are going to occur outdoors if the weather cooperates.
Well… as luck would have it… the weather isn’t looking to cooperate…
A storm system will move from the Ohio Valley Friday night, and push into western PA by Saturday morning. That storm will have a lot of moisture with it, and it will begin to spread rainfall across much of PA and NY by noon on Saturday. That storm’s energy will transfer to the coast later Saturday, and take on some nor’easter characteristics as it pulls away Saturday night and Sunday morning.
As it stands now (as of Thursday night), the rain should reach the Hudson Valley around mid day on Saturday. The timing will need to be ironed out, but the chance for showers will exist even during the morning hours on Saturday. By afternoon… it’s a washout. Periods of rain (heavy at times) will fall Saturday afternoon and Saturday night. In addition… it will be raw and chilly, with a stiff east wind and highs likely staying in the 60s on Saturday.
By the time the storm departs Sunday morning… here are our projected rainfall amounts…
It looks as if the rain showers will exit the Hudson Valley during the morning on Sunday, and potentially leave us with the afternoon hours salvageable. If you have Sunday PM outdoor plans… don’t cancel just yet… you may want to see how things shake out, and more information becomes available.

A soggy, stormy weekend lies ahead… but Friday itself, doesn’t look too bad. Hopefully you’re able to enjoy it. TGIF everyone… have a great day!
