Friday: Mix of clouds and sunshine, with a scattered flurry possible. Blustery and cold. High in the low 40s. Wind chill in the mid 30s.
Friday Night: Partly cloudy and cold. Low in the mid 20s.
Saturday: Partly cloudy and cold. High in the upper 30s to low 40s.
Well, as of this post… it’s snowing across most of the Hudson Valley. I say “most”… because it continues to spit a light mix of rain and wet snow flakes at my house, oh well. But, as for the rest of the area… quite an amazing scene is unfolding. While “official” totals are hard to come by at this late hour, we’ve got some amazing pictures on the Facebook page, so check those out if you get a chance! In general… when all is said and done, we’ll see a general dusting to an inch, mainly on the grassy surfaces… unless you live near me, then you get nothing…. ok, moving along :)…
Friday we’ll see a big change to the weather, as the winds will be out of the northwest, and the lake effect snow machine will fire up. For the Hudson Valley, that just translates into a mix of sun and clouds with a chance of flurries (snow showers in the Catskills). Afternoon highs top out in the low 40s in the valley… but winds will put the wind chills in the 30s for most of the day. When you add it all up… it will feel like the coldest day of the season so far.
The pattern continues thru the weekend, as Saturday looks every bit as cold as Friday, with partly cloudy skies. Sunday also looks dry, and temps really heat up… all the way into the low and mid 40s (try to contain your excitement). Then our next storm threat approaches on Monday.
For now… we’ll let the image do most of the talking. Simply put, a storm will track up the east coast Monday afternoon and night. While it currently looks like mostly rain, you can see… this is by no means a slam dunk. A minor shift in the track, and we could be talking about several inches of snow. But we’re tracking this system closely, and we’ll have more to say on this Friday and Saturday.
Ok… I must get to sleep. Alex and I are scheduled to be on the radio Friday morning, and I can’t be half asleep. We could be on any time after 7am on WKIP, WRWD or Q92. For more information, check out the Clear Channel listing, or the Facebook page. Until Friday night… have a great day Hudson Valley!
