Well after a humid, at times bumpy and very wet few days, there is a big ball of light in the sky, and blues skies across the region. Not to mention, much more comfortable temps and reduced humidity! This will be the forecast through the reminder of the week. We are looking at a beautiful stretch of weather that will feel a lot more like late August and not mid July. We will be looking at highs in the low 80’s, lows in the the 50’s, with lots of sun and reduced humidity.
On another note, you have likely heard by now the exciting news of the HVW team growing. Yesterday we announced a merger of Mid Hudson Weather, run by Bill Potter, with HVW. It was a decision that took me a long time to come to, as you all know I have built HVW from the ground up over the last three years and acted as the sole forecaster for that entire time. While being a mostly single man operation (minus the help of a few non weather admins) hasn’t stifled the growth of HVW, it has certainly been a lot of work. As most of you know, I also have a full-time job, and trying to keep 75k people informed about something that is as fluid as the weather has basically been another full time job. My love for the weather, my fans, and concern for the safety of everyone is what has kept me going. But I recently decided that the future of HVW is even bigger than it is today, and one of the main obligations I have to myself and to the fans is to provide the best, most accurate, and timely weather information possible. By adding another like minded individual with a similar drive and passion for the weather can only bring HVW to the next level. I have received concerns about the frequency in which the website is updated and most of that is due to the limitation of one person, this merger will allow a more constant and consistent flow of information on the website. It also gives HVW another personality and more dimension, while I know everyone loves knowing the forecast comes from me, there will be a group who will also love to here from Bill. As the CEO of HVW I am also aware of the future, I am aware of some of the big things the HVW is going to be doing and that helps bring the reality of needing more than just me to a head. HVW is more to me than just a FB page, or a place to forecast the weather, I am humbled by the fact that every time I get to hit send on a Facebook post or a blog entry, that I am living a dream I have had since a child. Most of you have read the articles or seem the posts, and know that this passion started as a six year old in the shower pretending to be reporting live from a hurricane with a shampoo bottle as a microphone. While I never made it the weather channel or the national weather service, I feel I made it even further, HVW is and will always be a dream came true, and I am honored by the opportunity you all give me everyday! With all of that said, you can only imagine that coming to the decision to let anyone else in on the forecasting part of HVW took very much thought and reflecting. But believe me when I say, if you loved HVW before, then it just got better, and we will continue to provide the most accurate, down to earth forecasts for this region. Thank you everyone for the opportunity to even make these decisions, thank you for trusting important daily decisions on my information, and thank you for continuing to help HVW be successful.
